Speaking to videogaming247, EA CEO Ray Muzyka has enthusiastically praised a newly evolving EA development space, saying the studio is allowed autonomy and the opportunity to work in what is becoming an inspiring corporate structure.
“I think it’s a great environment for a developer. I don’t think it was necessarily a few years ago, but I think it’s really a good environment now and it’s actually turning into a great environment,” said the Mass Effect boss.
Muzyka shrugged off a comment recently made by EA CEO John Riccitello on the subject, where he said he “blew it” in terms of bringing developers successfully into EA. The BioWare head said Riccitello been misinterpreted.
“In terms of the past, I think it’s really recognition more of the future and what it needs to be, not so much a discussion of the past,” said Muzyka, talking of the quote.
“John’s always talked more about what it needs to be in the future and a renewed focus on quality, and treating studios as independent city states, and empowering them to be creative, and making the best games in the world for their fans. Those are things that we share, like, that’s our shared vision with John. And that’s why we came to join EA. We believe in that vision.”
The subject of EA development structure has been a hot potato so far this year, with fresh comments aimed at Activision coming from EA communications boss Jeff Brown only this morning.
