File this one under “late to the party.” According to a thread on NeoGAF, Sony’s PlayStation Network Cards are finally appearing on select shelves – more specifically, Meijer, a retailer in the Midwest. Why aren’t the monetized slits of plastic competing with Microsoft and Nintendo’s respective efforts elsewhere? Allegedly, the PSN cards are still in a “beta phase.”
Also of note, PSN cards can apparently lead to double taxation – once when your snag the card from the store, and again when you ring up whatever you’re buying on PSN. Sony certainly won’t be stealing Doublemint’s slogan any time soon.
