Aion: Plastic surgery, gender changes, and protecting your account

Aion players could see the long-awaited gender change and plastic surgery services happening in the next couple weeks.

Also, the developers posted a nice bit of information on how you can protect your account, and what it’s doing to combat hackers and gold farmers.

The ability to change your gender and look should go live during February, reports IncGamers, with the plastic surgery feature requiring players to purchase a ticket before redeeming it in-game for “nearly anything you could customize in the physical character creation screen”.

This includes hairstyle and color along with face and body shapes. The gender change service also requires the purchase of a ticket in account services.

Pricing has yet to be determined, but it shouldn’t cost much.

On the account front, Scott Jennings with NCsoft’s Game Surveillance Unit, has posted an update to fans over the war it’s been fighting with Gold Farmers – one that’s been raging since November.

While there has been a decrease in bots, farmers, and gold spammers as a result NCSoft’s efforts, there’s been an increase in attacks by third parties in an attempt to steal account information through phishing, obtaining passwords from third party sites/systems, and account information provided by power-leveling services.

“As a result, our game support queues have drastically increased, with thousands of support tickets from players who have lost access to their game accounts and are suffering extended wait times for help,” wrote Jennings. “Our game servers, account databases, and support sites are under constant attack and being probed for any vulnerability. It’s a war that by no means is over.

“Our enemies are playing for high stakes—the estimated $2 billion dollars that RMT companies earn off the back of game developers and players like you. And we are playing for high stakes as well—the right that we believe we have as a company, and you as players, to play games that are free from the corruption of in-game currency sales and all that results from that.

“It’s a war that we’re committed to winning, but one that we’ll need your help with to achieve a real victory.”

Jennings goes on to describe how players can protect their accounts, and help NCSoft smack heads around a bit.

Hopefully, the giant rabbit and fire-breathing squirrel haven’t gone into retirement.
