James Cameron’s latest movie may have won two Golden Globes and is now an Oscar favorite, but the country’s excitement over the Avatar phenomenon has started bottoming out. Fans of the film began experiencing severe depression.

A message board thread titled ‘Ways to cope with the depression of the dream of Pandora being intangible' has received thousand of replies. They report finding life “flat,” “grey,” and “lacking meaning” after taking off their 3-D glasses. They claim difficultly in returning to their formerly interesting lives. Some mention contemplating suicide, hoping to be reborn into a Pandora-like world.

One guy is even trying to recruit people to start a real Na'vi tribe. An expert on the phenomenon had this to say on CNN, “People don’t have a lot going in their lives right now. Especially given the way the economy is.”

Wonder what Colonel Quaritch would say about these “pukes” getting all depressed about a movie? What about you? What do you think? Fire away in the comments!
