Microsoft has said that it’s taking a “wait and see” approach to an Alan Wake sequel since the first one has yet to make it out the door.
Speaking with CVG, MS said that the episodic nature of the game will see DLC released later in the year, but for now Remedy’s concentrating on the final product.
“It’s unique and gripping story – heavily influenced by pop culture classics – is brought to life using techniques reminiscent of modern movies and TV shows,” said MS product marketing manager Laura Disney.
“As Robbie Bach announced at CES earlier this month, the episodic nature of Alan Wake will see DLC become available for title later in the year. As for a sequel, we’ll have to wait and see.
“The goal of Alan Wake is create an intense experience for the player, and though ‘psychological thriller’ might not be a genre we are used to applying to games, Alan Wake is definitely not something you’ve experienced before.”
Slated for release in the spring, Remedy has assured gamers that the title will get a conclusive and satisfactory ending and that the team has some “great ideas” for DLC.
Alan Wake is expected to be on-hand at Microsoft’s X10 event in San Francisco next month.
