World's Worst Generic Gifts

Sarah

Don't you just love getting a gift that says "I thought of you and 42 other people when I bought it?"

The gift giver, sometimes in bulk, buys generic gifts without anyone particular in mind. These presents are supposed to be items that any living person on the planet will enjoy and will love receiving.

But, the thing is—they aren’t really.

1. Candles

Everyone loves candles. Not really, actually. Some people like candles. Some don’t. And, no one actually loves candles.

2. Lotion

Everyone loves lotions and bubble baths of obscure hybrid fragrances. Not so much. No one really wants to smell like a Cucumber Melon.

3. Calendars

Everyone wants to prominently display something (that may or may not contain pictures of kittens) to alert themselves and others to what day it is. Not as much as you might think. Some people don’t actually like cats. Some people don’t actually want to know what day it is.

4. Journals

Everyone needs a diary-like notebook to write down his or her personal poetry and deepest darkest secrets. No, they don’t.

5. Booze

Everyone likes to drink. Not exactly. Some people love to drink, others drink occasionally, and others don’t drink at all. Just because you’d love to unwrap a giant handle of Vodka and get freaky with it, doesn’t mean everyone else shares that sentiment.

6. Pictures of Themselves

Everyone loves a good photo of themselves, just themselves and no one else, in a frame. Maybe Mariah Carey, but not most people. Most people don’t really have a lot of photos of themselves and just themselves on display in their homes or workplaces. Why? Because it makes you look like a crazy person.

7. Underwear

Everyone loves underwear. Sort of. Everyone wears underwear. The thing is; they have usually gotten the hang of purchasing it on their own. They don’t really need your help with the whole thing. Plus if you aren’t dating, especially if you are related, it comes off as kind of creepy.

What are some of the most generic gifts you've gotten?
