Microsoft has responded to our query regarding whether or not the standalone 250Gb hard drive announced on Monday for Japan would be offered elsewhere.

Apparently not.

“We work closely with retailers to determine the best approach for our products on a region-by-region basis,” a Microsoft spokesperson told VG247. “We are now offering a standalone 250GB Hard Drive in Japan to provide consumers in Japan more storage options for their games and entertainment.”

The firm also confirmed it had slashed the price of the 120Gb HDD down to £80, down from £100.

“In Europe, the 120Gb hard drive is available for €129.99/£79.99 while supplies last, and we also offer other storage options for consumers to choose from.

“One is the Xbox Live 60Gb Starter Pack that includes a 60Gb hard drive, three-month subscription to Xbox Live, Ethernet Cable and Wired Headset for €79.99/£59.99.”

Previously offerings of a 250Gb hard drive came only in bundle form with Forza Motorsport 3, Modern Warfare 2 and Mass Effect 2.
