DSiWare games can’t be transferred between DSi and DSi XL

Those planning on ditching their DSi for a shiny, new DSi XL when it hits stores this weekend in the US, may want to consider the fact that you cannot transfer your purchased DSiWare games from one to the other.

Instead you will have buy them all over again.

Speaking with Kotaku, a Nintendo spokesperson told the site that it was “looking into that specific topic” but for the moment, there wasn’t “anything to announce at this time.”

No word on whether or not the newly announced 3DS will allow transfers either. Maybe we’ll find out more at E3.

Speaking of DSi XL though, GoNintendo has a very nice review of the handheld up on it’s site.

The review states that the DSi XL “doesn’t offer any different usability over the DSi before it” and that it’s “really is just a super-sized version of the DSi”.

However, the review does note that the sound quality and volume on the DSi XL is “noticeably better than the DSi” and while there are “some minor graphic artifacts due to the stretching of visuals” the increased size “outweighs any niggling issues people will have in that department”.

At least Nintendo is giving everyone options, we guess.
