It’s been nearly a year since anyone from Nintendo tossed around the words “Kid” and “Icarus,” and we’d by lying if we said our hope engines weren’t running on fumes at this point.
But just when we were ready to give in to despair, along came Yoshio Sakamoto, who just happens to be one of the original Kid Icarus’ creators.
“I don’t know personally about any project underway regarding Kid Icarus, but if so many of those people are interested in it and really want to see it on the Wii they should really speak up,” Sakamoto told Kotaku.
“If we can find some sort of way to bring it to the Wii, a way to make the game for the Wii that makes sense, we would happily do so,” he added. “But just keep in mind it may not be me making the game.”
Sakamoto’s currently producer on Metroid: Other M. So, for now, he’s got his hands full.
For now, though, it seems like Kid Icarus is doomed to the same fate as all other child actors: oddjobs and a bit part in a reunion special. He used to work the check-out desk at our local convenience store, actually. We once purchased an issue of Nintendo Power on his watch, and he started bawling his eyes out. Right there. In the store. Needless to say, that’s why he “used” to work there.
How the mighty have fallen, eh?
