StarCraft II’s lead producer, Chris Sigaty, has revealed that upon release, the game will include loads of new units.
The amount depends upon which faction you play.
Speaking with PCGZine, Sigaty said that the main unit changes between the original and the sequel amounts to 40 percent more units per race.
“We knew we wanted there to be a sense of nostalgia, fans know this world, they knew this game to a certain extent but when they get into dissecting the sequel they will realize it is very different,” he said.
“The build order that they had learned from the original doesn’t work. We’re making it different beyond just changing some units, there are around 40 pcent different units per race dependent on which race you are playing.
“We did things that change the micro mechanics and in the single player game we’ve done a lot of things to make every mission different too. Each individual level is really its own concept, you have different mechanics you have to learn for each mission as well as something internally we called ‘storymode.'”
The Beta for the game is ongoing, but it doesn’t contain any single-player functionality just yet.
StarCraft II is out sometime before machines take over the world. Probably.
