Those looking to go up against people other than their own continent mates at StarCraft II will have to wait until the game is patched for a cross-server patch post launch.
This means that North Americans can only play with each other, and the same goes for Europe and Asia.
Blizzard said that the main reason for the exclusion was due to stability issues and also due to the matchmaking system in Battle.net.
Apparently, cross-server play would cause lagging when playing against those on different continental plates.
However, the possibility is still being considered for a future patch, after the game has been launched and the developers have been able to monitor Battle.net and server performances.
So, there’s still hope yet for some good, old-fashioned ‘I’m better than you’ international rivalries.
Game’s out sometime mid-year.
Thanks, Dtoid.
