Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli has said there are many different plans for the online functionality of Crysis 2, and due to the firm’s recent acquisition of Free Radial, it now has a team that can focus only on the multiplayer bits of the game.
Speaking with Pat during the game’s event in New York City this week, Yerli revealed that Free Radical – now Crytek UK – exudes more “focus and dedication” than he’s ever seen at Crytek.
“There are several online functionalities we have planned, one of which is the multiplayer experience itself,” Yerli said, “which, at this stage we cannot talk about.
“But there are two things I looked at with Crysis, one is the online functionality and the other story.
“With story, I wanted to work with Richard Morgan. On multiplayer, we brought in a whole studio, Crytek UK to work on the multiplayer.
“That is all they are doing, with a full team on it, and they are blasting forward at full speed with more focus and dedication than I’ve ever had before at Crytek.
“Because of their multiplayer experience, their job is just to make the most of this experience. So that is all they have to do”.
Yerli also revealed to Pat that the teams working on the game are focusing on making the gameplay unique to both the console and PC versions.
You can check out Part 1 of Pat’s interview with Yerli here, and Part 2 will land next week.
There’s also a new trailer available, and an impressions piece on the game as well.
It’s out for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 sometime during the holiday season.
