America is Into: The Bling Ring

Sarah

Sarah's weekly post on what America is doing with its life.

Here's the story of a confused, possibly deranged chick named Alexis Neiers (your pronunciation is as good as mine). Alexis Neiers has pleaded no contest to felony robbery charges resulting from her involvement in the teenage gang of upper middle class hoodlums called 'The Bling Ring' that robbed celebrities' homes.

Specifically, her charges stemmed from her drunken involvement in the break-in of Orlando Bloom’s house.

She will serve 180 days in jail, pay fines that could be close to $600,000 (to be determined at a later hearing), and has to stay away from Orlando Bloom. The latter shouldn't be a problem. Movie studios made a similar policy a couple of years ago because his movies sucked.

Orlando Bloom wasn't the only celebrity victim, though. Paris Hilton had over $2 million worth of cash, clothes, jewelry and art taken from her house.

While Audrina Patridge was taken for $43,000 worth of stuff.

Rachel Bilson, Lindsay Lohan, and Brian Austin-Green/Megan Fox's homes were also broken into.

And robbed of a ton of designer clothes.

No word on what will happen to the uber-strange reality show "Pretty Wild" that has been curiously documenting the entire debacle on the E! Network. Also no report on how Orlando Bloom will survive without Alexis Neiers in his life, either.

I think he'll do just fine.

Don’t steal, Kids!
