According to a report over on the LA Times, Sony’s still planning on adapting Uncharted into a film, and is currently searching for a director.
Reportedly David O. Russell is on the list, although no one is confirmed at this time because Sony is still in the “let’s sit and have a chat” phase.
Russell’s resume includes such films as Spanking the Monkey, Flirting with Disaster, and The Fighter.
In more news, Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer were brought-in to show a tentative script last fall, and the producers, one of whom is Charles Roven (Dark Knight), liked it enough to get things moving along.
The report goes on to state that Sony’s possibly trying to push the project into the studio’s 2011 summer production schedule but, it has another film in the works already, so that may not happen.
A film based on Uncharted has been in rumorville for quite a while, and last year, Nolan North said in a podcast that he’d heard Hugh Jackman was on a Nathan Drake “wish list” of sorts.
