The Most Mindless Summer Jobs

Smosh

Summer is fast approaching which means it's probably time to get a job until the next school year.

But summer is your time off from school! You shouldn't have to work TOO hard, right?

Correct. Luckily, there is a way to get paid without even really having to work. Check out some of these chill jobs and snag one before someone else does!

Lifeguard

So let's get this straight: You are being paid to sit on your butt in a swimsuit all day watching other people in their swimsuits? Where does the work come in? Sure you have to pass the test to get certified, but it's a cakewalk. You are in charge of making sure no one like, drowns and stuff, but that's why you have the whistle. To warn them!

Camp Counselor

We have it on good authority that being a camp counselor is even better than being a camper. You basically just have to tell the kids where to show up and then play games all day. At the end of the day, lights out is pretty early for the kids, and all the counselors then just get to hang out and make fun of their campers.

Mascot

You know the guys you see on the sidewalk dressed as a giraffe or a hot dog and waving to all the passing cars? Yeah, that person is getting paid for being dressed up and standing. If you can wave and put on a costume, you are qualified. And if you are looking to build your mascot resume, this is a great place to start!

Ice Cream Scooper

This is a popular summer job because ice cream sales triple throughout the US during the hot months. And it involves this: 1) Picking up a cup or a cone; 2) Scooping ice cream into said cup or cone. Whew! How can you bear to do that all summer?!

House Sitter

Summer is the time when most people go on vacation. We've known people who spent their entire summer living in different houses for a week minding the place while the owners were away for a little R&R. Feeding the pets and watering the plants is the extent of the work. Watching TV and staying up late is the next hardest task.

Recruiter

Stand in a mall or on the sidewalk. Pass out fliers inviting people to meetings, screenings, take advantage of coupons, whatever. That's the job. Those are the details. It doesn't get any easier.

Valet Parker

Summers also see an increase in people going out to eat, staying at hotels, and generally going places that require their car to be parked. Because of this, valet companies bring on extra help to potentially wreck someone else's car. If you have a driver's license -- and in some cases, even if you don't -- park some cars for the summer.

Birthday Party Performer

Yet another job that requires dressing up in a costume, except this time you will be dressed as Cinderella (um, hopefully not the dudes), Captain Jack Sparrow, or Mario. Having a character come to a kid's birthday party has become all the rage so sign up with one of the agencies and get in disguise. All you'll have to do is show up, make a balloon animal or two, pretend to be the character and bolt. Do two or three of these every weekend and sleep in during the week. Greatest gig ever!
