According to a recent article on IGN, some developers are claiming that the new Nintendo 3DS will be close to matching the HD quality graphics of the Xbox 360 and PS3.
The article states, “To provide stereoscopic 3D effects the system must have the ability to render each game field twice, one for each of the player’s eyes, a technique that will require significant horsepower to produce.”
The site then goes on to say “several developers that have experienced 3DS in its current form have reported, off the record, that it has processing capabilities that far exceed the Nintendo Wii and bring the device with abilities that are close to HD consoles such as PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.”
If this is the case, it’s possible Nintendo is looking to surpass the visual power of PSP and iPad, although strong rumour suggests Sony’s to take a significant leap forward in poly-grunt with PSP2.
More details on 3DS are expected to be revealed at E3 next week.
