Samantha Ryan, senior VP of production and development at Warner Bros, has said the company is starting to slow down on acquiring new and existing IP’s.
The company – which in recent years has acquired Monolith (F.E.A.R.), TT Games (LEGO franchise), NetherRealm Studios (Mortal Kombat), and Batman: Arkham Asylum developer Rocksteady – has decided that it’s time to tighten the purse strings.
Ryan explained to Gamasutra that Warner will now turn its focus internally.
“We’re going to go through kind of a settling period for a little while, where we’re going to focus on getting all the stuff that we’ve just acquired well-integrated, and really focus on the games,” said Ryan.
“I don’t think you’re going to see a ton more acquisition; maybe a little tiny one as a complementary piece, but aside from that I’m hoping that we take it easy for a while.”
Warner Bros recently announced a new Mortal Kombat game which will be released as part of its extensive line up in 2011.
