THQ’s VP of core games, Danny Bilson, has told IG that Metro 2034 won’t be released any time soon.
Instead, the game, which has already been confirmed to be 3D-enabled, won’t be released for another “couple of years” yet.
Dmitry Glukhovsky, author of the books that spawned the games, has said on his blog (via EG), that the the second game may come to PS3.
When it was released in March of this year, Metro 2033 skipped PS3 and launched on PC and 360.
According to Glukhovsky, while it only took 19 days to port Metro 2033 from PC to 360, it would have taken developer 4A Games six months to complete a PS3 port.
The sensible option was instead to focus on getting the sequel on Sony’s machine instead of porting the original Metro, according to the author.
