Michael Pachter has said he expects 3DS will cost $249 in the US at launch, with software prices getting an increase from $25 to $29
But the Wedbush Morgan analyst said in a note that the tech will be “revolutionary” enough to justify higher prices.
“We view the 3DS as a revolutionary device, and expect its launch to spur hardware and software sales,” said Pachter.
“Due to the unique 3DS experience previewed by Nintendo at E3 this year, we believe Nintendo will be able to sell millions of units even at a price of upwards of $250.
“From a software perspective, we believe Nintendo will be able to increase DS software prices, from a blended average of around $25 today to over $29 next year,” he went on to add.
As far as a release goes, Nintendo has said it’ll be out in all major regions by the end of March 2011, while a UK release has been set for sometime in that period, we were told last week.
