Eight Epic Twitter Fails

Editor

Twitter is a great way you instantly let people know what you are doing. As we learned yesterday, it’s also a great way to instantly accidentally kill yourself.

But the problem with instant communication is that sometimes, when you’re an idiot, people learn you’re an idiot instantly. Here are eight epic Twitter fails.

8. John Mayer: Breaking Celebrity News

Maybe it fell asleep because it was bored with his last album?

7. Paris Hilton Goes To China

Malaysia is a separate country, Paris.

6. Xzibit

Yo dawg, I hear you don’t like your image being used in memes. Maybe he should settle down? I mean, name ONE Xzibit song. And when was the last time you saw “Pimp My Ride?” Being Memefamous is all he’s got.

5. Funeral Tweeting

A Rocky Mountain News reporter decided to try out twitter by liveblogging a funeral of a kid that was killed in a tragic accident. Maybe unspeakable sadness doesn’t need to be tweeted in real time?

4. Most Of What Amanda Bynes Writes

Amanda Bynes’ Twitter page is like diary of a fourth grader. She’s constantly sharing things like this:

Or like this:

She also drew national attention when the actress announced her retirement with this series of tweets.

Of course, a month later, she announced her un-retirement, also on Twitter.

3. The Cisco Fatty Incident

Skye Riley was offered a job at technology giant Cisco, but before she accepted, she tweeted this message to her followers: @theconnor: Cisco just offered me a job! Now I have to weigh the utility of a fatty paycheck against the daily commute to San Jose and hating the work. Unfortunately for Riley, the people at Cisco have internet, and one of their employees came across her post. He tweeted back. @timmylevad: Who is the hiring manager. I’m sure they would love to know that you will hate the work. We here at Cisco are versed in the web. So yeah, no fatty paycheck for you.

2. Jessica Simpson At The Gym

Thanks for sharing, Jessica.

1. Gang Rape

On paper, having a billboard dynamically updated via twitter seems like a good idea. In practice, you can accidently make your news anchors look like rapists. WPMI in Mobile, Alabama ended up suspending their general manager and news director over this mistake.
