Nintendo has announced Wii has sold 30 million units in the US alone.
According to Nintendo’s internal sales figures, Wii reached the milestone in only 45 months which is “15 months faster than the next best-selling console”.
“More than any other video game system in history, Wii has expanded the world of video games to new audiences,” said NOA’s Cammie Dunaway.
“This milestone is another reminder that people want fun games they can play with others – all at a value-minded price.”
According to NPD, the top 10 best-selling Nintendo-published Wii games in the US as of June are:
- Wii Play
- Mario Kart Wii
- Wii Fit (with Wii Balance Board)
- New Super Mario Bros. Wii
- Wii Sports Resort
- Super Smash Bros. Brawl
- Super Mario Galaxy
- Wii Fit Plus (with Wii Balance Board)
- Mario Party 8
- Link’s Crossbow Training
Here’s the NPD’s top 10 list of the best-selling Wii games from third-party publishers in the US as of June:
- Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock – Activision
- Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games – SEGA
- LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga – LucasArts
- Carnival Games – Take-Two
- Game Party – Midway
- EA Sports Active – Electronic Arts
- Just Dance – Ubisoft
- Rayman Raving Rabbids – Ubisoft
- Deca Sports – Hudson Entertainment
- Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games – SEGA
Nintendo also listed its games slate for the remainder of the year, and it includes the following titles:

- Kirby’s Epic Yarn this fall
- Wii Party this fall

- Sonic Colors from SEGA during the holidays
- Disney Epic Mickey this holiday
- PokéPark Wii: Pikachu’s Adventure for the holidays
