Resistance 3 creative director Marcus Smith has said the Insomniac shooter’s 2011 launch is “music to our ears.”

“Many of us now have children, and the reality of game development is that we need to maintain the quality, so something else had to change,” Smith told GamesTM.

“Extending the development cycle was the way to go. It was something we were discussing from the very beginning.”

Insomniac was previously on two year dev-cycles for games such as Ratchet and Clank or Resistance, but announced back at gamescom it was reverting to three year dev-cycles.

Had it stuck to its two year regime, we would be seeing R3 this year.

Instead, it’ll release next year on PS3.

Thanks, Beefjack.
