It's Veteran's Day and we at Smosh wanted to say thank you to anyone and everyone who has served our country in the armed forces. I thought it would be fun to pay tribute to some Hollywood badasses who kicked some ass for the old red, white and blue in real life.
Chuck Norris
Badass Chuck Norris served in the U.S. Air Force before risiging to fame as a martial artist.
Clint Eastwood
Eastwood was drafted into the Army during the Korea war, he was then sent to Ft. Ord in California for basic training.
Nate Dogg
Nate Dogg joined the U.S. Marines, where he was a Munitions Specialist. I guess that means he had to "regulate" the number of bullets and shells. After leaving the service, Nate returned to LA, where he started working with his cousin Snoop Dogg, and their friend Warren G.
Montel Williams
Montel Williams enlisted in the U.S. Marines when he graduated high school.
Mel Brooks
Before directing films like "Space Balls" and "Blazing Saddles," Brooks was a corporal in the U.S. Army. He graduated from the Virginia Military Institute and served in World War II, and on occasion, defused landmines.
Lee Marvin
Lee Marvin wasn't only one of the baddest dudes in Hollywood, he was a Marine wounded at the Battle of Saipan.
Oliver Stone
Yale dropout Oliver Stone joined the military in 1967 and went to Vietnam. He received a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart for his service. That's also where he got his inspiration for films like Platoon.
Stanley Kirk Burrell, a.k.a. "MC Hammer"
The Hammer spent three years as an Aviation Storekeeper 3rd Class. After his service was completed he pursued his career in music. The rest is history.
Former Vice President Al Gore
Gore enlisted in the Army in 1969, despite his opposition to the war. Seven months into his enlistment he was sent to fight the Vietnam War.
Charles Bronsan
Before making movies like "The Magnificent Seven," "The Dirty Dozen" and "Deathwish," this Hollywood tough guy was a tail gunner in the army air corps.
Drew Carey
After serving his country in the U.S. Marine Corps comedian Drew Carrey went on to have his own TV show and now hosts The Price Is Right.
Shaggy
In 1988 singer Shaggy joined the U.S. Marine Corps as a Field Artillery Cannon Crewman. He served during Operation Desert Storm and and the Persian Gulf War.
Tracy Lauren Marrow, a.k.a. "Ice-T"
Ice T joined the Army after graduating from Crenshaw High School. He spent four years as a Soldier and left the service in 1983 to pursue a music career. He released his first album, "Rhyme Pays," in 1987.
Bill Cosby
Everyone's favorite TV Dad, Bill Cosby trained as a hospital corpsman and served aboard ships and at the Marine base in Quantico, Va., before being sent to Bethesda Naval Hospital.
