Be Nice, Get Free Stuff

Chris D.

I have always have been a proponent of The Golden Rule, Karma or whatever you want to call just being nice.

In he end, life is too short to sweat the small stuff and being genuinely nice has benefits other than the obvious.

I haven't paid for a fountain drink in the last 6 months.

Not at the store by my house at least. A few months back I was at the store and the little kid in front of me was counting the change he had to pay for the mountain of candy he was about to purchase. He was about $4 short. I told the cashier just to bag it and I would take care of the difference. Obviously the kid had been saving his nickles and dimes as that is all that he had to pay with. When I went in to pay for my soda the next day the cashier just waived at me and told me I was all ready taken care of. This has been going on for the last half of a year.

GameStop Employee Discount

I get all of my Xbox games at an employee discount, without working at the game store.

I had an old Xbox that I never use and thought that I would trade it in. I entered the store to the sound of a mom explaining to her son that she couldn't afford to buy him a system right now and it would have to wait until next Christmas. I gave the mom the Xbox and the Halo games that I had and wished them a merry Christmas. The store manager saw this and I have never paid full price since.

Half-Off Haricuts

This might not seem like a big deal but I keep my hair short, like bald short, and I get a haircut every two weeks. I always ask the lady that cuts my hair about her day, how her family is and she always gives me the "Sale price" even though the shop only runs sales twice a year.

Free Coffee

I order my coffee black even though the store I go to offers dozens of different options. I drive thru, and give the cashier a $5 dollar bill for my $2 coffee and ask if she would apply the change to whoever is behind me in line.

After doing this a few times my coffee suddenly became free.

Free Money

It never fails every time that I go to the Costco. I see an elderly lady in parking lot desperatly trying to heft her over-packed boxes into her SUV. I always go over to help, thats the way I was raised. The sweet old ladies thank me and try to give me money. I guess that is the way that they were raised.

I never do any of this to try to try to get free stuff... I do it in hopes that I can make someones bad day a little better.

But in the end...... KARMA IS UP IN THIS BITCH!
