According to a Eurogamer report, Xbox 360 sales have doubled within the past week in the UK thanks to the launch of Kinect last week.
While specific numbers weren’t mentioned, Chart-Track are quoted as saying it was “more than a fair reflection” to assume sales doubled week-on-week.
It’s also thought because of the spike, the sales gap between 360 and PS3 has “widened substantially” with Sony’s hope of closing down said gap being Gran Turismo 5, which launches next Wednesday.
It’s said that 360 is also outselling Wii as well as PS3, although the former still continues to dominate over the latter.
A publishing source told EG: “360 doubled last week and it was already selling a lot. Wii and PS3 have been beaten by 360 consistently over the past few months.
“Wii is still outselling PS3 – the numbers are going the wrong way for Nintendo year-on-year but it’s certainly not a disaster.”
Microsoft announced this morning it had sold 1 million Kinect units within its first ten days on sale.
