Sony’s announced it’s shipped 4.1 million units of PlayStation Move since its launch in September.
It comes on the back of figures from Microsoft last night, announcing it had sold 2.5 million Kinect units since its launch earlier this month worldwide.
It was thought that Sony mentioned sales of the motion controller following today’s announcement, but the company’s told Joystiq it actually meant shipping numbers. Oopsie.
“While we don’t disclose our exact sell-through number, the key is that our retailers continue to ask for more Move units and are taking every unit we can supply them with based on their sales,” said a Sony rep.
Shipping figures of PlayStation Eye and the sub-controller for the time PS Move was released weren’t given. The Eye is essential to use Move, while the sub-controller isn’t mandatory.
The motion wand was unveiled at E3 2009, and got a proper blow-out at GDC back in March.
It launched in Europe and US in September before releasing in October in Japan.
