Some plucky chap called “Phil,” posting on the Beyond3D forums, has claimed that GT5’s infamous loading times can be cut in half by playing the game off a solid state drive.
Phil tried various loads with a normal drive compared to an SSD, and found that in many cases the wait to play was chopped by 50 percent.
Testing by the GTPlanet chaps has seemingly corroborated the findings, and has found that an SSD cuts down the 42-minute install to 25 minutes.
Smoother performance in the menu system is claimed as well – which would make sense since so much data is cached to the drive.
There’s tons more on Digital Foundry.
