PSP always does well on the Japanese hardware charts, but thanks to the release of Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, sales of the handheld went through the roof.
For the week of November 29 through December 5, PSP sold a whopping 323,653 units. Compare that figure to the 75,689 units the week prior, and you’ll see just how Monster Hunter crazy folks really are.
Sony also moved 200 more PSP go units for the week than the previous, and PS2 even manged to move an extra 108 units over the week prior. PS3 sales were down by 27,808 units with Gran Turismo 5 fever wearing off, but still, the console moved 41,760 units which is nothing to scoff at.
Wii sales were up over the week prior to 56,095 compared to 41,267 – likely thanks to continuing sales of Mario Sports Mix and the Super Mario Collection Special Pack along with the debut of Taiko Drum Master Wii Minna de Party 3.
DSi LL and DSI both sold respectably, with each landing the fourth and fifth spots on the chart, respectively. DS Lite even manged to move 41 units over the week prior.
Xbox 360 sales managed to slip by 832 units over the week prior, with no software titles for the console landing in the top 20 for the week on Media Create’s chart.
