The world of literature has been bereft of Ken Levine’s dark world for long enough, but the much-delayed Bioshock novel adaptation has finally found a release date in March.

According to publisher Macmillan and listings on Amazon, Bioshock: Rapture will launch on March 1. Both hard and paperback editions, featuring differing artwork, will be available at launch. Amazon.co.uk lists the latter from £5.49.

Bioshock: Rapture tells the story of Andrew Ryan’s founding of the underwater city of Rapture. Complete with a foreword from Levine himself, the book complements and details the world first revealed in the original BioShock, Irrational Games’ 2007 hit.

Penned by prolific sci-fi and adaptation author John Shirley, the novel was originally scheduled to coincide with the release of BioShock 2 in February 2010. A thoroughly missed deadline can apparently be put down to a last minute decision to graft in plot points from the 2K Marin-developed sequel.
