EA has announced it’s to publish Portal 2 at retail via its EA Partners program.

“Portal 2 is Valve’s most innovative title in the company’s history and will be launched with a first-class launch campaign this April,” said Valve marketing boss, Doug Lombardi.

“We’re excited to be working with Electronic Arts to deliver this title as we expand our platform strategy to include the Mac and PlayStation 3 platforms.”

EAP boss David DeMartini expressed interest in his group publishing the puzzler sequel at gamescom last August.

“We’re in the process of earning their business yet again for Portal 2, and we’re very optimistic because of our close relationship. We do a lot of business on Steam. They do a lot of business with us on the distribution side,” he said at the time.

Portal 2 was announced last March for PC and Xbox 360, with confirmation of a PS3 version emerging from Sony’s E3 2010 press conference.

Valve boss Gabe Newell said back in June that the PS3 version, with the addition of Steamworks, would be “the best version on any console”.

Portal 2 releases on April 21 for PS3, 360 and PC.
