As we all know Pac-Man recently turned 30. He's on top of the world. He's the star of one of the most popular video games of alltime and if Hollywood has its way it he'll also soon be the star of his own reality TV show.
The creators and owners of Pac-Man (Namco Bandai Games) and Merv Griffin Entertainment have joined forces to produce a new reality TV show... joining the ranks of shows like Survivor, 16 And Pregnant and the ever popular Jersey Shore!
Reports say that the show will be similar to Wipeout where contestants have to complete obstacle courses or risk getting knocked into muddy water below them. A popular theme among many Japanese game shows as well.
“The idea we have is to take what Pac-Man is and bring it to life, to bring what is essentially the world’s biggest game of tag to television,” said the president of Merv Griffin Entertainment, Roy Banks.
The show hasn't been picked up by a major network yet but many are speculating as to what the game will actually be.
People dressed in Pac-Man costumes chasing each other around a grid filled with cookies, obstacles and challenges being chased by other people dressed as ghosts? The possibilities are endless, but the hilarity and humiliation is sure to ensue.
I personally can't get enough of Japanese game shows and obstacle course shows. I love watching people complete the challenges, and I love watching people fail miserably... doesn't matter if I can understand what they're saying or not. I don't care what language they're speaking. I just can't believe what people are willing to do for money, prizes and fame. Pac-Man promises to deliver more dumb people willing to risk their own lives for a quick buck. I'm in!
What do you think about this? Would you watch the Pac-Man show? What do you think about those obstacle course shows in general? Let's discuss in the comments below shall we?
