Lewie’s Weekly Deals – Square Enix savings, cut-price consoles, Mass Effect 2 for £25

By LewieP

Welcome to my weekly deals, where once every seven days I bring you the cream of the crop of cheap games from anyone who will sell them to you. If you’re planning on buying a console any time soon, make sure to look at the deal of the week. For regular updates on when games are cheap, make sure to go to SavyGamer.co.uk.

This week’s games are hidden beneath the cut.

Mass Effect 2, PS3 – £24.99 delivered
Preowned. If you were quick, you could have got this for £21.99, but they bumped up the price. Still the cheapest I’ve seen it yet though. I didn’t know how the DLC worked, but luckily Alex did. He says “Kasumi, Shadow Broker & some Weapons on Disc – the others are Cerberus Network downloads, so need the 1-time use code. Cerberus Network access can be bought for a tenner separately.” Great game, and nearly half the PSN asking price.

Dawn of War II: Retribution, PC – £19.99
Registers on Steam.
Save yourself a cool ten English pounds by buying this from GamersGate, then registering it on Steam. If Valve can’t work the currency converter properly, we should take out money elsewhere (it is $30/£30 on Steam). This is the standalone expansion to DoW2, and it doesn’t use GFWL for multiplayer. You get to pick from a list of 5 sets of toy soldiers as your preorder incentive DLC too.

The 3rd Birthday [Twisted Edition], PSP – £17.99 delivered
As far as a cursory search of a few retailers sites indicates, the “Twisted Edition” is the only version of this getting released here, unless they’ll be following up with a bog standard edition after launch. This is the new Parasite Eve game, sort of. I never played either of the first two games, any fans out there?

Batman: Arkham Asylum [Goatee Edition], PC – £3.75
This is one of the most universally loved games in recent memory. Do you like Batman? That’s really the only factor to consider when deciding whether to play it or not. If you’ve already played this on a console, the PC version is rather lovely, and looks especially bat-tastic at 1920×1080. This deal is on for 24 hours only, and there will be a new deal from Square Enix every day this week. Speaking of which….

Square-Enix Complete Pack, PC – £48.75
Includes:
Batman: Arkham Asylum [Goatee Edition], Battlestations Pacific, Battlestations: Midway, Conflict: Denied Ops, Deus Ex [Goatee Edition], Deus Ex: Invisible War, Final Fantasy XI, Flora’s Fruit Farm, Front Mission: Evolved + All DLC, Gyromancer, Hitman: Codename 47, Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, Hitman: Blood Money, Infernal, Just Cause, Just Cause 2 + All DLC, Kane and Lynch: Dead Men, Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days + All DLC, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, Mini Ninjas, Order of War, Project: Snowblind, Rogue Trooper, Season of Mystery: The Cherry Blossom Murders, Shellshock 2: Blood Trails, Supreme Commander 2 + Infinite War Battle Pack, Thief: Deadly Shadows, Tomb Raider: Anniversary, Tomb Raider: Legend, Tomb Raider: Underworld, Yosumin!
Which should keep you occupied for a long time. It is a damn shame that steam still charge you for games you have already paid for in a bundle, they really should get around to separating them like GOG.com do.
