Analyst stands by 1.5 million Homefront sales prediction

Lizard Capital’s Colin Sebastian has stood firm by his prediction that Homefront will shift 1.5 million units by the end of the month.

“We remain comfortable with our F4Q estimate of 1.5 million units of Homefront, following the company’s announcement that first-day sales at retail hit 375k units in the U.S.,” Sebastian told Industry Gamers.

“We are also encouraged by the initial conversion of pre-orders to sales, despite some disappointing critic reviews.

“Looking ahead, word of mouth will become more important as gamers explore the online multi-player levels of the title. We note that Homefront also launches internationally this weekend.”

The financial quarter ends on March 31. Homefront launches in Europe tomorrow, on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Metacritic still has it in the low 70s, with the PS3 version ranked highest of the lot – just.

Poor reviews saw a panicked drop in THQ’s share price, but stock bounced back when Homefront’s US launch sales of 375,000 led to unexpected server demand.
