That was GDC. Almost. Here’s what happened on day four.
- Epic’s Cliff Bleszinski gave what amounted to a motivational talk for developers at GDC yesterday. He didn’t offend anyone, he was only misquoted once, and everyone watching had a laugh. Seems like a solid way to round out the show.
- David Cage told CVG after his GDC session yesterday that the two games Quantic’s making at the moment are “very different,” and he “would like” to make a war game afterwards. Cage confirmed the studio is working on two projects in July last year. Of the war idea, he added: “A game about war is something I would like to do, just to see if we could get closer to the film side,” then said, “I’m going to work on it. It’s really something I want to do.” The headline over there is, “Call Of Duty meets Heavy Rain: David Cage to make ’emotional war game’,” but you should note the words “want” and “would like”. Just saying.
- Bungie engineer David Aldrige has confirmed that the studio is working on a “massively multiplayer action game,” but that it’s “not WoW in space,” as has previously been rumoured. The IP is new and will be published by Activision.
- Prototype 2 got an extended VGA trailer yesterday. Activision did press on the game at GDC – we’ve got an interview with Radical’s studio head ready to go – but online coverage has been embargoed “indefinitely,” we were told yesterday. Don’t panic: we’re pretty sure the hold-up’s to do with a print exclusive.
- Homefront is the most pre-ordered game in THQ’s history, Danny Bilson said yesterday.
That really was it in terms of the big stuff. Here are the headlines from days one, two and three. Watch over the weekend for any straggling coverage, and many thanks for sticking with us for your GDC news this week.
