Hints on Quantic Dream’s next project

By Brenna Hillier

Domain registrations, a trademark filing and resumé listings may have uncovered Heavy Rain developer Quantic Dream’s next project.

The ever curious Superannuation had turned up a number of domain registrations for the phrases “PlaySeries” and “Fiv5“.

Twitter user Miladesn later found Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has trademarked “Fiv5”.

Super also uncovered a new Quantic Dream staffer’s LinkedIn profile with a reference to “Five” – along with the presumed-canceled Quantic Dream title Infraworld, which supposedly went out of production before the new hire.

Super theorises Infraworld has been resurrected, citing an easter egg seen in Heavy Rain, and that the name “Fiv5” refers to this being the developer’s fifth project (Omikron; Farenheit; Heavy Rain; Karma; Infraworld).

David Cage said within weeks of Heavy Rain’s release that his next game was already written, later adding that the studio had two new IPs in the works. The COO commented recently that the new project would be markedly different from Heavy Rain.

Along with the shelved Infraworld, Quantic Dream is known to have been working on a canceled sequel to Omikron: The Nomad Soul called Karma. The studio is known for dropping red herrings and embarking on elaborate Internet marketing campaigns.

Thanks, Eurogamer.
