Media Create has released its Japanese hardware and software charts for the week ending March 20, and once again Dynasty Warriors 7 came out on top, along with 3DS despite a 33 percent drop in sales for the new console.
Software takes a tumble
Since Japan is still reeling from the recent earthquake and subsequent tsunami, customers just weren’t in the mood to buy, which is understandable.
Even with Dynasty Warriors 7 topping the chart for the second week in a row with 67,475 units moved, sales for the title were down 73 percent over last week’s 253,900 unit sales
Dissidia 012 and Professor Layton hung on to the same two and three spots from last week moving 31,058 and 18,470 units with a decline in sales of 52 and 37 percent, respectively.
The only titles to see growth over the week prior in the top 20 were Pokemon Black and White as well as Wii Party, which moved 8,606 (up 8 percent) and 7,122 (up 17 percent) units, respectively.
Debut titles included Powerful Golf (10,125 units), Hanaoni: Koisomeru Koku – Eikyuu no Shirushi (10,021 units), and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (5,139 units).

PS2 beats 360 despite lack of software on the charts
For the third week in a row, 3DS led the Japanese hardware charts despite a 33 percent decline in sales. The new handheld moved 61,394 units while its predecessors as a whole moved 14,590 units.
Wii moved 9,724 units for the week.
Sony took the second spot on the chart with PS3, moving 26,623 units compared to PSP’s 23,511 units -which is 22,066 less than last week. PSPgo moved 600 units compared to the week prior’s 931 and in a surprising twist, PS2 outsold Xbox 360 by 19 units.
Neither PS2 nor Xbox 360 had titles in Media Create’s top 50, so the sales for both were a bit flat over last week, despite the slight blip in PS2 sales.
