“Yes,” the analyst said when asked if he was surprised at the announcement. “Not much to say after the first 8 million. It’s still selling 1 million per month, pretty surprising, and definitely non-core. Wait till there are core games created.”
THQ’s Kung Fu Panda 2, 2K’s Carnival Games: Monkey See, Monkey Do and Double Fine’s Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster are Kinect’s currently announced highlights for the year.
The news arrives after Microsoft confirmed at CES in January that Kinect had shipped 8 million units within 60 days of being on sale.
Kinect sold 2.5 million units in its first 25 days at retail, and 1 million in the first ten days.
Estimates of shipping 5 million units of Kinect in 2010 were easily breached, much to the surprise of the analyst community.
