Prey 2 to drop portals and gravity shifts for less of a puzzle vibe

By Brenna Hillier

Human Head has explained why Prey 2 won’t feature portals or shifting gravity, among the most memorable aspects of the 2006 original.

Lead designer Chris Reinhart told PSM3 the decision to cut both resulted from a change in focus.

“I really wanted to shift away from making it too much of a puzzle game,” he said.

And there’s the whole plot thing too, I guess.

“Portals and gravity were the functions of The Sphere. And The Sphere’s gone.”

Prey 2 was announced in March, and will release through Bethesda for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 next year.
