Bullying is a big problem. It can make kids feel hurt, scared, sick, lonely, embarrassed and sad. Bullies might hit, kick, or push to hurt people, or use words to call names, threaten, tease, or scare them. A bully might say mean things about someone, grab a kid's stuff, make fun of someone, or leave a kid out of the group on purpose. But why do they do it?
Not Getting Enough Attention At Home
Bullies tend to come from neglectful homes. A bully who isn't getting enough love and affection at home is likely to take it out on his peers. That is why when bullies are beating up a kid they usually shout such things as, "Why won't you hug me?" and, "Maybe if I punch you enough my mom won't have to work two jobs."
They Have Trouble Expressing Their Emotions
Bullies are really bad at talking about how they really feel. This is because they have been taught that one punch means, "I'm angry," two punches means, "I'm doing well, how are you?" and three punches means, "I'm sad, do you want to eat ice cream and watch Toy Story 3 with me?"
Their Parents Pick Out Their Clothes For Them
This would make any kid want to get into fights all the time. Nothing is worse than having your Dad insist on picking out your clothes. This kid has the double whammy of not only having his parent pick out his clothes for him, but also the clothes are matching clothes. He is going to beat the crap out of other kids someday.
For Power
Bullies think if they taunt and torment someone they will have complete power over that person, and that power will bring them happiness, success later in life, and golden ox head statues for them to stand in between. They are 100% correct.
It's Good Exercise
Bullying is a great workout for your triceps, upper deltoids, lower deltoids, and quadriceps. It has also been shown to increase metabolism, and if the bully is a biter, whitens teeth.
To Get Other People To Do Things They Don't Want To Do Themselves
Bullies will sometimes bully a kid to get him to do things they'd rather not have to deal with like chores, or homework. The best way to deal with a bully like this is to completely give in, then many years later take the frustration and anger you've never dealt with from the humiliation on your friends and coworkers.
For Charity
Sure a bully may demand your lunch money, but what you don't know is that he's usually raising money for the various charities he supports. A popular one with bullies these days is Japan Tsunami relief. Just remember, that stolen money is actually a valuable tax write off.
