Screen Legend Liz Taylor Dead At 79

C.J. Arabia

Screen legend Elizabeth Taylor died this morning at Cedar Sinai hospital in Los Angeles at the age of 79. It's not often that you get to call someone a true screen legend but Liz Taylor really was a legend... an icon... a sex symbol... and so much more.

Her BFF was Michael Jackson. Weird, right? Wait, it gets weirder.

Liz Taylor has made over 50 films. She started her career in 1941 at the age of 8 years old.

Films like Lassie & National Velvet made her famous!

One of her most famous roles was playing the part of Cleopatra in what was the biggest film of its time... That's where she met her one true love, fellow screen legend Richard Burton who played Mark Antony in the film.

What followed was one of Hollywood's greatest love stories... Liz and Richard had a passionate and tempestuous relationship - love, passion, drinking, drugs, money, sex, success, failure, laughs, public fights and emotional meltdowns...

The couple was married and divorced twice, and if he were still alive, she probably would have married him again. Explaining why they could not seem to stay together, Taylor once said: "Maybe we loved each other too much."

Liz Taylor broke up Princess Leia's parents. That's right, Carrie Fisher's mom Debbie Reynolds was married to her dad Eddie Fisher and bombshell Liz Taylor decided that she wanted Eddie Fisher. Liz got what she wanted.

Liz was married and divorced 8 times! Her 7th and final husband was construction worker Larry Fortensky. Everyone thought this relationship was a joke. Hollywood royalty and the goofy frosted construction worker with the mullet.

The wedding was wacky to say the least. For starters, the wedding took place at Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch, and Michael Jackson actually walked Liz down the aisle. Fortensky's best man wasn’t an old friend or a family member: It was Taylor’s hairdresser, Jose Eber. What the what?

Long before it was popular Liz had her own perfume. Her fragrance White Diamonds wasn't just popular, it launched a perfume empire!

Liz was the voice of Maggie Simpson!

When Matt Groening needed someone to do the voice for Maggie Simpson in this episode he tapped the talent of Liz Taylor who simply uttered one word...

Liz Taylor will be remembered for a lot of things. Her film work, her charity work with AIDS, her many marriages, her love of diamonds, her partying and her beauty.

It's really sad to lose someone like this, but what makes me feel better is the thought that she's probably sharing cocktails with her ol' drinking buddy Richard Burton up in heaven's VIP lounge right now.  She's back with her one true love.

What's your favorite Liz Taylor movie? If you don't have one, you should rent a few. She was hot stuff.
