Cave’s new game a snip at £1,500

By Stace Harman

Japanese developer Cave is to offer a PCB arcade board version of its upcoming bullet hell shooter, Akai Katana, for around £1,500. How many should we put you down for?

The Deathsmiles studio is selling the PCB arcade board version through its website for ¥220,000, or 1627.05 of your GBP, at the time of writing.

For this princely sum, you’ll receive the PCB for home use – meaning it’s locked to ‘freeplay’ and can’t be used for commercial use – an instruction book, a spiffing B1 poster and, wait for it, a “sword-shaped screwdriver” for volume adjustment. You want one now, right?

Alternatively, you can wait for the Xbox 360 version which is due in May and will likely be slightly cheaper.
