Associate producer Jason Frederick has said F.E.A.R. 3 doesn’t contain traditional multiplayer modes in order to craft a unique experience.
“We have four different multiplayer modes, and we deliberately and consciously tossed out deathmatch, team deathmatch, capture the flag,” Frederick told Gamespot. “We got rid of those game modes.
“You can pick up any shooter these days and you can play deathmatch. There are some people who are a little bit upset about this, but ultimately, it’s better for our particular game because we’ve created multiplayer modes now that you can only get from F.E.A.R. 3.
“So you decide to play one of these multiplayer modes, you can only pick up F.E.A.R. 3. You can’t pick up any other game and get these.”
Three of F.E.A.R. 3’s four multiplayer modes – Contractions, Soul King, and Fucking Run – have been detailed in trailers, with a fourth, Soul Survivor, defying my YouTube search powers.
F.E.A.R. 3 is due on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in late June. See the full interview below.
