Level-5 files trademark for Professor Layton and the Last Specter in the US

By Stephany Nunneley

A trademark for Professor Layton and the Last Specter has been applied for by Level-5, and dug up by Siliconera.

Released in Japan back in 2009 as Professor Layton and the Specter’s Flute, the fourth Layton game is a prequel and tells the tale of how our dear puzzle-solving gentleman came to meet his wily apprentice Luke.

The original release also included a RPG developed post-game from Brownie Brown.

Last year, a trademark for Professor Layton and the Unwound Future was unearthed by Siliconera right before the E3 announcement that it would arrive in the states in the fall. It did, and it landed in our birthday stocking.

Therefore, we expect further announcements on the title to be handed out at E3 next month.

Nintendo’s press conference is scheduled for June 7.
