A report has surfaced stating that the successor to Xbox 360 will be shown at E3 next year with Timesplitters 4 as one of its launch titles.
According to a “high-ranking” source within Crytek, VideoGamer reports that the firm is using DirectX 11 in the development. The firm is also, according to the report, hoping Timesplitters 4 will set a visual benchmark for the new Microsoft console.
The source said Microsoft will unveil and launch the new console ahead of Sony, and that Crytek is also investing in PlayStation 4 development.
Timesplitters 4 has presumably been in development with Crytek since its acquisition of Free Radical in 2009, with CryEngine 3 behind the game.
Thanks, Eurogamer.
