Teen Faces 8 Years For Blow-Up Doll Prank

Stupid criminals are always funny but here's a case of stupid laws... which aren't so funny, especially if you're 18-year-old Indiana high school senior Tyell Morton.

(source)

Ya see, Tyell had a really funny senior prank that he wanted to pull off. At least HE thought it was funny. It's mostly stupid really, or according to Indiana police and school officials... a felony.

Tyell disguised himself in a black hoodie and snuck into one of the girl's bathroom's at his school... he didn't think anyone saw him, but he didn't realize that a janitor had seen him and alerted school officials that some mysterious figure was sneaking around the school. So officials, who reviewed surveillance video, saw Tyell dressed in a disguise entering the school before school hours.

They see Tyell sneak into the girl's room with a suspicious package. What they don't know is that the package is just one of them blow up dolls and Tyell's genius prank is that he blows up the doll, props it up inside the girl's bathroom and sneaks out. He figures the doll will surprise some unsuspecting girls and everyone will have a laugh.

However, to school officials who were watching the surveillance video it looked like a hooded figure wearing latex gloves had just gone into a women's bathroom carrying a 'suspicious package,' left the package in the bathroom and then took off. So the authorities were called in.

Next think you know the bomb squad shows up, defuses the blow up doll and Tyell is arrested and charged with felony criminal mischief have labeled a terrorist. He now faces 8 years in jail.

"It's not right. It was a senior prank," Tyell told the press. "They're blowing it out of proportion. I didn't hurt anybody, I didn't intend to embarrass anybody. What did I do wrong, you know?

(source)

The crazy thing is that if Tyell had gone to school with a gun and been caught, the charges would have been lesser. A gun on campus is just a Class D felony with only up to 3 years in jail. What tha what? That's jacked up.

Websites and support groups are popping up all over the internet to support Tyell and try to get some justice in this case. This guy may have F'd up majorly, but he's not a real criminal. He didn't intend to hurt anyone. He's never been arrested or even really in trouble before. He just doesn't have the best judgment... he IS a teenager after all.

What do you think about this case? Is it fair to put this guy in jail for 8 years for pulling off a bad senior prank?
