Analyst firm Wedbush Morgan has said that the arrival of Wii U has come “two years late.”
“We think that Wii U is arriving two years late, given that the other HD consoles already have peripherals for movement,” said a note from the company, attributed to Michael Pachter, Edward Woo and Nick McKay.
“As Nintendo did not provide any specifics around the new console’s power or pricing, we are assuming that the Wii U is unlikely to provide greater power than the current HD consoles,” it added, referring to comments made by NoA boss Reggie Fils-Aime that footage of third-party games for Wii U were running from PS3 or 360 versions of those games.
“If that is the case, we believe Nintendo has conceded a tremendous first mover advantage to Microsoft and Sony, which launched Kinect and Move control schemes, respectively, in late 2010.”
Followings its full unveiling last week, Wii U launches next year, with a spring or summer release likely.
Thanks, GI.
