Gamestop to kick off digital game sales with Human Revolution

US bricks-and-mortar retail chain Gamestop continues its unceasing march to the future by allowing shoppers to buy downloadable PC games in-store.

Gamasutra reports the first game to be offered will be Square Enix’s reboot of the PC favourite series, Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Human Revolution is “the first of what will soon be many titles” offered through the service, and Gamestop is pimping the new system by giving away free copies of both previous games in the series and a bonus mission for Human Revolution.

Shoppers can use in-store credit and gift cards as well as the usual payment methods to buy the game ahead of release, and download it at launch.

Gamestop’s capacity as a digital retail comes about through its acquisition of Impulse and Spawn Labs. The massive retail chain has offered DLC in-store with great success.
