In case you missed it...about a day ago retail giant Abercrombie & Fitch made news when they released a statement saying they would pay The Situation to STOP wearing their clothes. This is basically the PR equivalent of "Go smush yourself!"
The company claimed that The Situation's sporting of A & F duds was sullying the brand's reputation, a claim that is all kinds of ridiculous. It's Abercrombie and Fitch we're talking about! Their catalogs are practically soft-core porn and they actually tried to sell padded push-up bikini tops to KIDS! What reputation are we ruining here?
Of course MTV and the rest of the gang were quick to defend the Sitch. MTV reps called it a 'clever PR stunt,' and you know I never thought I'd say this but Pauly D made an excellent point in the tweet he sent out defending his bro.
Damn straight, Pauly D! A & F had a whole line of Jersey Shore T-shirts, including one with 'The Fitchuation' written on it. Looks like promoting Jersey Shore is their go-to marketing strategy when sales are sluggish...interesting. So the company said 'Come at me, bro!' to the Sitch, and for once in his life The Situation wasn't the one getting his ass beat. He's the Ronnie in this beef.
Cause this PR stunt has apparently back-fired big time! A & F stock took a tumble yesterday, dropping 9% in the first trading session after the The Situation dis was made public. I guess they forgot that these reality stars are like this with the Wall Street crowd.
Of course the company is now back-tracking, saying they were just trying to get some back-to-school buzz by creating a little water-cooler conversation, and that there are no hard feelings and they have nothing but respect for The Situation...blah blah blah. Shut it! You just got PWNED! By The Situation! You a playa hater and now you're all DTF with him? You are The Situation's Beeyotch!
Of course the company claims that their stock drop had nothing to do with the offer they made to the Sitch. Yeah, yeah, nice try. I repeat: You got pwned by The Situation! Because regardless of the real causes of your 9% stock drop, the story is that it happened because you messed with the Jersey Shore. And to quote the Simpsons' Nelson Muntz, 'HA! HA!'
What do you think of the A & F situation? Do you think their PR stunt back-fired? Give me a verbal fist-pump @DesiJedeikin or tell me what you think in the comments!
