PS3 passes 22 million units sold in Europe as price drop campaign gets into high gear

SCEE’s Jim Ryan has said PS3 has passed the 22 million sold mark in European territories, and said the console still has “lots of life,” left in it.

Speaking with MCV, Ryan said with PS2 selling over 50 million units across these territories during its lifetime, there’s more from PS3 “still to come,” in comparison, and now that the console can be bought for £199 in the UK, it will likely start to surpass the 22 million mark at a faster pace.

Sony UK has been heavily promoting PS3’s new price this week with over 5,000 UK roadside sites featuring posters, and along with new major ad campaigns for Resistance 3, DanceStar Party, PS Move, and Uncharted 3.
