Apple sends out invites to October 4 iPhone event

By Stephany Nunneley

Apple has announced its iPhone event by sending out formal invitations to various media and tech outlets.

The event takes place on Tuesday, October 4 at 10am PST at the Apple campus in Cupertino, with CEO Tim Cook hosting.

Apple’s invitation shows four iOS app icons along with the heading: “Let’s talk iPhone.”

The firm is expected to touch upon iOS 5 features, and there’s been talk for ages it is to announce iPhone 5 at the event along with a white iPod Touch.

While nothing is set in stone at the moment as far as announcements go, the firm is also expected to announce Sprint as an iPhone 5 carrier as well – sometime or another.

Again, nothing concrete here, but we were told by a Sprint representative a couple weeks ago that the firm would be getting the smartphone sometime after November 1.

We’ll all know more once October 4 rolls around.

Thanks, Ars Technica.
